Kill Weeds at the Root!

Those perennials you thought were dead can come back, again and again. Other weed killers only target the leaves. Lawn Care Plus’ non-selective herbicide kills any treated plant down to the root. No root. No Weed. No hassle.

General Nonselective Post-Emergent Herbicide

Low Persistence:

Herbicide persistence refers to how long the herbicide works after you’ve applied it to your garden. Some herbicides can last for years, meaning they continue to kill plants or affect plant health long after the initial application. Unlike many herbicides, glyphosate gets absorbed by the particles in your dirt and immediately starts to break down into natural, nontoxic substances, meaning it has a very low rate of persistence. In fact, the Michigan State University Extension labels it as “not persistent.” In a study by one herbicide manufacturer whose products come formulated with glyphosate, researchers set up eight test sites and found the average half-life of glyphosate was only 40 days. This means that after just 40 days, half of the glyphosate had dissipated, which is a much lower persistence rate than many other herbicides.

Low Toxicity:

Compared to many other kinds of herbicides, pure glyphosate is very low in toxicity to you and your family. This may make it much safer than other chemicals you may be tempted to use in your garden and lowers your risks of health problems related to herbicide exposure. Another problem with some other herbicides is runoff into waterways where herbicides may injure fish and other wildlife. Not so with glyphosate when this herbicide is used correctly. The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources reports that glyphosate is toxic to fish “only at dosages well above the label application rates.” While glyphosate may be comparatively low in toxicity when judged next to other herbicides, it is still toxic. Exposure to glyphosate can cause skin irritations, difficulty swallowing, diarrhea and vomiting, warns the National Pesticide Information Center.

Never ingest the product or allow extended exposure to skin while wet. Wait at least two hours following application before resuming normal activity.
Non-selective

Glyphosate works by inhibiting the plant’s ability to use certain enzyme pathways in the plant’s biological structure. This applies to all plants unless they have been bred and engineered to resist glyphosate. Thus, while glyphosate can control weeds, it will also effectively kill all other plants it is applied to.

Lawn Care Plus will not apply non-selective herbicide on windy days, nor will we treat garden or flower beds with the product.
